How to use the Photo Memento Preview Tool

Here we explain how and what the photo gift preview tool does. It has been designed to help the visitor to www.photomemento.co.uk see what their photo would look like on one of our photo gifts and to help you personalise your keepsake.

When considering a personalised photo gift it is reassuring to have a clear idea what it will look like before placing an order.
That’s why at Photo  Memento we have created our Preview Tool.
It enables you to upload a digital photo from your computer and see what it would look like if it was printed on a photo gift, like a chopping board, place mat, wooden tray, clock or photo mug.

How to use the Photo Memento Preview Tool:

First choose from the categories of photo gift you like; a Photo Drinks bottle; a Photo cushion; a Photo purse etc…After choosing a photo gift you will see a key on the product page saying “Create Yours”. Click  to start the preview process.First enter your name and email address.

Next select the photo you want to upload from your computer with the Browse key.  Click the upload button.  Accepted file formats of the photo are jpg, gif, bmp, pdf, tif, eps & png. Most commonly digital photos tend to be jpeg or gif. There is a progress loader bar which tells you how much of your photo has been uploaded. When the upload is complete your photo will appear on your screen set into the photo gift template.There are a selection of keys which allow you to manipulate your photo in the outline of the photo gift:

1. Zoom allows you to magnify your photo to achieve the level of detail required. You may want one person in a group photo to be the subject of the photo gift, so you will want to make them larger in the frame of the Gift Preview
2. Position allows you to move your uploaded photo from left to right, up or down. Again this allows you to focus on part of a photo simply by holding down the arrow key in the direction you want to the photo to move.
3. Stretch or Shrink.  Sometimes the photo uploaded doesn’t fit the shape of the photo gift you have chosen so you have the option to stretch your photo to make it a better fit. Or  you may think the image is a little too wide or long for the photo gift. The left arrow shrinks your photo while the right stretches it. The up arrow stretches and the down arrow compresses your photo from top to bottom. This can create a flattering effect on a person’s appearance but it if the photo is overstretched or compressed it becomes obvious and not very flattering.
4. Rotate allows you to tilt the photo by a few degrees, so if the person you are wanting to centre on your photo gift is leaning to one side  you can correct this and make them appear upright.
5. Rotate 90 degrees If the photo you have uploaded is landscape,(Longer than taller), and you want it to appear portrait, (Taller than wider) click on the left or right button to rotate 90 degrees in that direction.

Text. If you want to add a dedication onto your photo gift click on this button to enter your text on screen. You can then choose where you want to position the text on the photo gift. If you add too much text or it can obscure the subject of your photo or just make it look badly designed. You can increase or decrease the size of the font; choose the font from a dropdown menu  and the colour of the text.
When you are satisfied with your preview of your photo gift click the  finish editing key and we will send a copy to your email . It saves a copy in our database with your name and email address.

Here is a short history of commemorating wedding anniversaries and the associated symbolism:

The earliest known references to associating an anniversary with a commerorative gift comes from medieval times and  was practiced in middle Europe.  The spouse would give his wife a silver garland when they had been married for 25 years and a golden garland to celebrate 50 years.

There are materials associated with specific years for the first 5 years of marriage and then every 5th year up to 25th and then 50th and 75th.

The earliest reference celebrating a wedding anniversary, other than Silver or Gold, was around 1875.This was for the 5th anniversary, for which Wood was the material for commemorating the occasion.
There are currently 2 Diamond Anniversaries, one at 60 and one at 75 years.
The 75th anniversary is the original traditional diamond anniversary. The 60th was added when Queen Victoria celebrated her Diamond Jubilee on her 60th anniversary of her accession to the throne in 1897 and has since been associated with the 60th Wedding Anniversary.
In 1937 the American National Retail Jeweller Association created a list which associated a precious metal or gem with each Anniversary year up to the 15th Anniversary and then each fifth year after that up to the 60th Anniversary. How thoughtful of them!
